Acne usually occurs in teenagers and pregnant women. For an adult to have acne, however, can be rather stressful because of the perception that society does not approve of acne, specially adult people with acne. Some adults can feel so embarrassed that they try to hide their acne from being seen by other people.

Studies have shown that acne can be a hereditary disease, not just occurring due to hormonal imbalances. Acne can also be caused by oil production and mismanagement of dead cells exfoliation. Normarlly, acne lesions occur on the face, but they can also appear on the scalp, neck, chest, back, legs, shoulders and even on the upper arms.

Adult acne can be very persistent when compared to teen acne. This is because acne on teens easily subsides over time once the hormones get adjusted. Adult acne, however, can lead to permanent scarring.

Main Causes of Adult Acne:

Considered as the main culprit, hormones can cause skin eruptions or even outbreak of acne. But we must also look at the organs that produce these hormones. The liver, kidneys, and skin are the main organs that help our bodies eliminate impurities and waste particles. Once any of the organs does not function properly, like the elimination of wastes out of the body, adult acne can usually occur.

Skin eruption, or acne, is one of the first symptoms of failure by these organs. Water is very important in facilitating the elimination of body waste. Taken in good quantities, water can often clear the bowels and can help the blood get rid of its toxic elements.

If there is little or not enough water intake, the skin might not be able to function well, specially in eliminating body wastes. The lungs may also fail to oxigenize the blood if it inhales too much impure air. Hence, different factors may lead to acne, such as food, water, air, emotional stress, fatigue, etc.

How to Treat Adult Acne Naturally:

Our bodies should be able to eliminate wastes properly. To achieve this, a person must be exposed to pure and clean air, drink enough water, practice natural food habits, and eat foods rich in antioxidants. The face can be washed with clean, warm water with lemon juice. Lemons have the ability to reduce oil from the skin, therefore minimizing acne in adults. Food rich in fiber can also help remove toxins and wastes from the body by facilitating regular bowel movements. Lastly, adults using cosmetic products must be careful not to use oil-based cosmetics.
